Grayish Green: A Nature-inspired Interior Design

Creating a Harmonious Relationship between Human and Nature

The uniqueness of this design lies in its ability to cater to the owner's specific needs. As a girl who loves to travel and engage in sports, the design takes into consideration the need for wider open areas and solitary spaces for independent work.

The realization of this design is achieved through a combination of thoughtful design choices and technology. The existing tiles are retained as a transitional dust fall area, while the use of Venetian Plaster adds texture and reflects the owner's free-spirited character. The integration of bicycles on the entrance wall showcases the common interests of the husband and wife.

The kitchen and dining area are cleverly divided by a T-shaped countertop, with a linear chandelier and wooden dining table adding a touch of elegance. The design also focuses on maximizing natural light and creating a sense of openness by smoothing out beams and columns and incorporating storage solutions.

The Grayish Green design extends to the living room and master bedroom, where grayish green accents are used to create a lazy retro atmosphere. Alternating gray Venetian Plaster and pure white cabinets add visual interest, while a wood-grained platform and trowel texture on the main TV wall allow sunlight to roam freely.

With a total area of 125 square meters, this design offers a seamless blend of nature and modern living.

By removing partition walls and incorporating semi-open glass partitions, the design enhances the interaction between different areas of the house. The kitchen, now transformed into a central island, opens up the public space, while the study room benefits from increased natural light and a tranquil atmosphere.

The Grayish Green design project was completed in December 2022 in Hsinchu City, Taiwan. The design was carefully researched and executed to overcome challenges such as insufficient lighting and oppressive structural elements.

This nature-inspired design by Yi-Lun Hsu has been recognized for its excellence and innovation. It was awarded the Iron A' Design Award in 2023 for its well-designed, practical, and innovative approach. The design integrates industry best practices and competent technical characteristics, contributing to a better world.
